Important Links
Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) is one of India's largest financial support programmes for students from SC, ST, OBC, and EBC communities who are studying beyond Class 10. Run by the Central Government through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in, this scheme covers tuition fees, maintenance allowance, and book support — directly deposited into the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Applying is completely free.
Note: Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27 applications on NSP are expected to open in October 2026. Always verify current dates at the official portal scholarships.gov.in. Dates in this article are indicative based on the annual cycle.

Renewal Applications — For Existing Scholarship Holders
Students already receiving the scholarship must renew every year. Renewal requires passing the previous year without backlogs, remaining enrolled in the same college and course, keeping bank account and Aadhaar linking updated, and filling the NSP renewal form within the announced window.
Common Mistakes That Lead to Rejection
Bank account in parent's name — scholarship only goes to student's own account
Expired income certificate — must be current year
Aadhaar not linked to bank — DBT transfer fails
OTR number not generated — mandatory from 2026
Documents over 500 KB — upload gets rejected
Institute verification not completed — follow up with your college scholarship section regularly
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I receive two scholarships at the same time?
No. If you apply for both NSP Post Matric Scholarship and a state scholarship, only the one with the higher amount will be disbursed. The system automatically flags and prevents dual full-tuition scholarship benefits.
Is there a minimum marks requirement for fresh applications?
No minimum percentage is required for a fresh Post Matric Scholarship application. Income limit and a valid caste certificate are sufficient. Renewal applicants must have passed the previous year without backlogs.
When does the scholarship amount reach the bank account?
After institute, district, and state verifications are complete, the amount is credited through DBT to the student's Aadhaar-linked bank account within 3 to 6 months of submission.
